Two Hospitalized After Crash on I-80

RENO, Nev. — Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning following a crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 80 near downtown.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just before 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 on eastbound I-80 near the Virginia Street exit. The crash involved a Ford Mustang and a semi-truck pulling a trailer.

Authorities said one person riding in the Mustang suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The crash caused significant traffic delays in the downtown Reno area, with eastbound lanes snarled for several hours as emergency crews worked to investigate the incident and clear the roadway.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
