NEVADA/CALIFORNIA — A pair of earthquakes was recorded over the weekend in the region, according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The first quake struck Saturday morning, Dec. 27, registering a magnitude 3.83 at approximately 7:20 a.m. A reviewed status report from the laboratory showed that the earthquake had a depth of about 5.05 miles and was centered roughly 13.8 miles north-northeast of Yerington, Nevada.

A stronger earthquake followed Sunday evening near Susanville, California. That quake measured magnitude 4.7 and occurred approximately 10 miles north-northwest of Susanville, according to the Seismological Laboratory.

Officials said the Susanville-area quake was about 41 miles northwest of Herlong and roughly 45 miles north-northeast of Quincy.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from either earthquake, though residents across the region reported feeling the shaking. Officials continue to monitor seismic activity and encourage residents to report any damage to local authorities.
