Mother Charged With Murder

COLD SPRINGS, Nev. (Dec. 23, 2025) — Prosecutors have upgraded charges against Cold Springs mother Andrea Loving, now accusing her of murder in the death of her 5-year-old daughter, Izabella Loving.

Authorities arrested Andrea Loving on charges of child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm previously. Court documents allege she was involved in the daily mistreatment of Izabella, including deprivation of food, physical abuse, isolation, and confinement. On Monday, the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office formally amended her criminal complaint to include a murder charge.

Izabella’s father, Nicholas Loving, was charged with murder in August following a four-month investigation into the child’s death in April.

Prosecutors allege Nicholas Loving killed Izabella by “hitting and/or kicking and/or dragging and/or whipping and/or otherwise striking the victim and/or by shoving the victim’s head against a wall.” The complaint further alleges Andrea Loving aided and abetted him, including conspiring to cover up or conceal Izabella’s physical injuries.

Prosecutors also allege Andrea Loving instructed two other children to tell police that Izabella’s injuries came from another minor child.

Earlier charging documents filed this year state that Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives obtained text messages showing Andrea Loving contributed to the abuse, including frequently feeding Izabella only a piece of bread for daily nutrition. Detectives also noted that as Izabella’s condition worsened, Andrea searched extensively online about her symptoms but did not seek medical help.

Investigators cited internet searches such as “signs my child is dying,” “how long can you go without food,” “kidneys failing,” and “my five year old is peeing blood,” among others.

During a police interview on July 28, following her arrest, Andrea Loving denied physically beating Izabella and said Nicholas Loving was responsible for the abuse, stating he beat the child “more times than she could count.” While she detailed multiple instances of alleged abuse by Nicholas, records show Izabella’s last doctor visit was in October 2022.

According to detectives, Andrea admitted the couple intentionally kept Izabella out of school during the past year because of “marks and bruises all over her body.” She also acknowledged she had many opportunities to seek medical care, contact emergency responders, or notify law enforcement, but failed to do so.

“Andrea admitted she could have and should have sought help but did not,” detectives wrote. “Andrea said she thinks about that all the time and said she feels bad and guilty now.”

In a statement released Tuesday, Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks said the expanded charges reflect the evidence uncovered during the ongoing investigation.

“The loss of Izabella Loving continues to weigh heavily on our community and everyone in my office,” Hicks said. “As this case continues to move forward, the facts uncovered only reinforce the seriousness of what occurred and the responsibility we have to pursue justice for Izzy.”

Hicks added that the decision to amend the charges was made carefully and deliberately, based on the evidence, and that the case remains an active priority for his office.
