ELKO COUNTY, Nev. — The Elko County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a set of human remains discovered in a remote area of the county.
Deputies were called just after 9 p.m. on Dec. 14 to an area near Devils Gate, located north of Interstate 80, following a report of the discovery of human bones. Upon arrival, deputies also located a shallow grave.
Investigators said they do not yet know how long the grave has been there and have not been able to identify the remains. The investigation is being handled as a homicide case and is still ongoing.
