Ballot Tracking Now Available

While Storey County 2020 General Election ballots have already gone out in the mail, schedules are also available for early in-person and day of voting.

Along with this comes a new service from Nevada’s State Elections Division to track the status of voter ballots, including when it is mailed, when it is received by the county, and when it’s been counted is now available.

The free service is provided through a partnership between Nevada’s Elections Division and BallotTrax, a company that provides ballot tracking services in other states. According to a press release from Storey County Clerk Treasurer Vanessa Stephens, to sign up for the service, visit nevada.ballottrax.net and register.

She states that the only information required to sign up for ballot tracking is your first and last name, date of birth and zip code. All information remains private.

She reminds you that your are not required to provide your Social Security or driver’s license number and that you can always verify the status of your ballot by visiting the Secretary of State’s registered voter services at nvsos.gov/votersearch.

Should your prefer to vote in person rather than vote by mail you can do so. The county’s in-person early voting takes place at the Storey County Courthouse Slammer Museum, 26 S. B Street, Virginia City, on the following dates: Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 19 to Friday, Oct. 23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 26 to Friday, Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Mail ballots can also be dropped off at the Storey County Courthouse Slammer Museum during the same hours as the in-person early voting schedule. In addition, completed ballots can be dropped off at the County Clerk’s Office weekdays beginning immediately.

In-person voting on the day of the general election is still available. Local polling stations include the Courthouse in Virginia City, the Community Center in Mark Twain, the fire station in the Virginia Highlands and the fire station in Lockwood.
