A new silver dome now crowns the Nevada Legislature Building, marking a major milestone in an ongoing renovation project at the Capitol complex.
The approximately 5,000-pound dome was lifted into place Tuesday by Plenium Builders using a crane, with fabrication by Utah-based Spengler Industries. Western Nevada Building Group assisted with insulation, shingles, and the coordination of the installation.
The dome completes the west portion of the renovation. Meanwhile, work continues on the rear of the building.
Construction is also ongoing on a new parking garage that incorporates a covered top level and solar panels, which will reduce building power costs by 50%.
