Nevada Supreme Court Upholds Fiore Suspension

The Nevada Supreme Court has unanimously upheld the interim suspension of Pahrump Justice of the Peace Michele Fiore as she faces an investigation into possible judicial misconduct. The ruling, filed Friday, determined that Fiore’s challenge was premature since the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline has not yet imposed official punishment or filed formal charges.

The suspension stems from Fiore’s 2024 federal conviction on six counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Prosecutors alleged she solicited donations for statues of fallen Las Vegas police officers but instead used the funds for personal expenses, including plastic surgery and her daughter’s wedding. Despite receiving a presidential pardon from Donald Trump last year, the Judicial Discipline Commission maintained her suspension with pay, stating that the pardon doesn’t preclude consideration of her ongoing conduct.

Fiore challenged the commission’s jurisdiction to discipline her for conduct that allegedly occurred before she became a justice of the peace. However, the commission maintains the suspension is regarding alleged misconduct during her time as a judicial officer.

In response to the ruling, Fiore stated she was willing to wait for the investigation to conclude, saying, “this is not the end of the fight, it is simply the next step.”
