Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford has joined a multistate settlement with Norwegian Cruise Line over sales practices and cancellations during the COVID-19 pandemic, on behalf of the Silver State.
The agreement, involving a dozen states, requires the company to avoid deceptive sales claims and bars it from prioritizing sales over consumer health and safety during declared emergencies.
NCL will pay $2 million in penalties to participating states, including $31,359.66 to Nevada, and must adopt new employee training and senior management review of sales communications during disaster declarations. The company also issued more than $3 billion in refunds and credits nationwide during the pandemic period, according to the settlement.
