Churchill County Sheriff Richard C. Hickox Jr. has died following complications from cancer, the sheriff’s office announced.
Hickox served the community for more than 28 years, rising through the ranks from detention deputy to patrol, investigations, and command staff before becoming sheriff.
He passed away Saturday, April 11. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time.
