Dozens of Boulder City residents attended a public meeting on Tuesday to oppose the proposed Townsite Solar 2 AI data center on 88 acres of desert.
The project could generate $2.6 million in its first year, provide 200-300 construction jobs, and 25-40 permanent jobs paying over $100,000.
The facility would not connect to the city’s power system and would avoid using effluent for cooling following community concerns. The site is 2.8 miles from the nearest residence, and potable water use would be restricted to restrooms and kitchens.
The developer pledged there would be no impact on wetlands or Lake Mead.
