The Department of Justice says four Mexican nationals with prior felony convictions and previous deportations have been charged with living in the United States illegally.
The individuals, Laurentino Salvador Juarez-Martinez, Serguio Raudel Contreras-Torres, Brandon Castanon-Bautista, and Pablo Covarrubias-Islas, were allegedly residing in the Las Vegas area without authorization.
Martinez was previously arrested in March 2024 on multiple drug charges, including possession and possession with intent to sell. He was sentenced to 24–60 months in prison and remanded to ICE custody on April 1. According to the DOJ, Martinez had been deported seven times prior. He now faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of parole, and a fine of $250,000 if convicted on the reentry charge.
Torres was arrested in September 2021 for felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He failed to appear in court and was later captured in September 2025. Torres had been deported twice before and faces two years in prison, one year of parole, and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
Bautista was arrested in November 2025 on charges including robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary while armed, and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. He was remanded to ICE custody in March 2026 and had been deported twice previously. He also faces 2 years in prison, one year of parole, and a $250,000 fine.
Islas was arrested in March 2025 on suspicion of conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and possession with intent to sell a controlled substance. Remanded to ICE custody on March 27, he had been deported three times prior. If convicted, Islas faces the same penalties as Torres and Bautista.
