A fast-moving brush fire broke out overnight near 4th Street along the railroad tracks in west Reno, prompting a multi-agency response.
Fire crews say the blaze began around midnight after sparks from a passing train ignited nearby vegetation. The fire spread to approximately 1.5 acres, moving toward the Truckee River as embers carried across the water toward a neighborhood near Ambrose Park.
One engine was positioned to protect homes in that area as crews worked to contain the fire. In total, seven engines responded, along with two water tenders from the Reno Fire Department. Truckee Meadows Fire also assisted in the response.
Crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire. There were no injuries.
