Vegas Casino Employees Accused of Skimming

Three employees of Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel are facing felony charges after authorities say they siphoned nearly $300,000 from casino cash registers over a period of more than a year.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department documents, Christina Carbonell, Siraprapha Rattana, and Rommel Soriano are accused of carrying out the thefts between 2022 and April 2025 at Binion’s Café on Fremont Street.

The investigation began after an internal audit flagged irregularities in the restaurant’s finances. Police say a tip from an employee last year prompted a deeper look into what detectives describe as a coordinated skimming operation.

When officers responded, hotel security had already detained Rattana. She allegedly told police that she and the others took an average of about $200 per day from the registers.

Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly shows Rattana pocketing cash directly from a register. Police believe she and Carbonell, both cashiers, manipulated transactions by applying unauthorized discounts or reducing totals, then keeping the difference.

Soriano, a waiter, is accused of receiving a portion of the stolen money and assisting in concealing the activity from surveillance cameras. Authorities say video evidence supports those claims.

Detectives also examined financial records tied to the three suspects, uncovering what they described as significant cash movement across multiple accounts, along with frequent large withdrawals at area casinos.

The total loss to Binion’s was calculated at $298,000, according to police.

Carbonell and Rattana each face a charge of theft exceeding $100,000. Both have pleaded not guilty. Carbonell was released without bond and ordered to stay away from the casino, with a preliminary hearing set for April 20. Rattana posted $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 22.

Soriano faces a lesser charge of theft between $5,000 and $25,000. He has also pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 21.
