More than 15 law enforcement associations across Nevada have endorsed retired Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Tim Ross, in his bid for Reno mayor, according to a campaign news release.
The endorsement comes from the Public Safety Alliance of Nevada, a coalition representing law enforcement organizations from across the state, including groups in Carson City, Douglas County, Clark County, North Las Vegas, Sparks, and Washoe County.
In its endorsement letter, the alliance said it was backing Ross on behalf of what it described as the vast majority of law enforcement officers statewide.
Ross said his decision to run is rooted in his connection to the city.
According to the release, his campaign is focusing on “keeping Reno safe, keeping Reno clean, and making Reno financially sound.”
A Reno native, Ross graduated from Reno High School and the University of Nevada, Reno. He worked as a substitute teacher and later owned a local business before beginning a career in public safety, ultimately retiring as a sergeant with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
