Republican AG Candidate Demands Nevada Sue California

Republican candidate for Nevada Attorney General Adriana Guzmán Fralick is pressing incumbent AG Aaron Ford to take legal action against California over fuel supply regulations that she says are driving up gas prices in Nevada.

In a formal letter sent March 17, Guzmán Fralick argued that California’s policies, pushed by Governor Gavin Newsom, are reducing refinery capacity in the state. Nevada, which has no major refineries of its own, relies heavily on California for gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.

She said that as California throttles production, Nevadans pay more at the pump, sometimes $20 more per tank than in other parts of the country.

The letter also states that Governor Joe Lombardo has repeatedly attempted diplomatic solutions, writing to Newsom with no response. Guzmán Fralick warns that voters “will know that when California came for their wallets, their Attorney General was too distracted to answer the call.”

Ford, who is currently running for governor rather than seeking re-election as AG, has been criticized for focusing on national headlines rather than local issues. He has not publicly responded.
