One person is dead, and another received injuries following a crash that shut down Sun Valley Boulevard in both directions Tuesday evening. The collision occurred around 6:50 p.m. near Gepford Parkway, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle traveling southbound in the right lane of Sun Valley Boulevard left the roadway and entered the right shoulder, where it struck a woman riding a scooter. After the collision, the vehicle continued south, entered a ditch, and rolled, authorities said.
The scooter rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle went to the hospital with reportedly non-life-threatening injuries.
Sun Valley Boulevard was closed in both directions as troopers investigated the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
