Northern Nevada Casinos Post January Gains

Northern Nevada casinos reported increases in gaming revenue in January, even as statewide totals declined compared with the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Casinos in Washoe County outside of Reno and Sparks recorded a 4.19 percent increase in gaming revenue for the first month of 2026.

Within the county’s two largest cities, Reno casinos reported a 2.90 percent increase, while Sparks casinos saw a larger jump of 10.47 percent compared with January 2025.

Gaming revenue also rose in several other Northern Nevada markets.

Casinos in Carson City, Gardnerville, Minden, and other areas of Douglas County outside the Lake Tahoe basin reported a 3.17 percent increase, generating $11,512,576 in gaming revenue during January.

Casinos on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe, including the casino corridor at Stateline, reported one of the region’s largest gains, with gaming revenue increasing 10.30 percent year over year to $24,575,361.

By contrast, North Lake Tahoe casinos saw gaming revenue decline 4.15 percent compared with January 2025.

Despite the gains in several Northern Nevada markets, statewide gaming revenue declined overall.

According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the state’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total gaming win of $1,345,164,920 in January 2026, representing a 6.55 percent decrease compared with $1,439,494,060 reported in January 2025.
