A 25-year-old woman was arrested Sunday following a dramatic crash on South Carson Street involving a stolen commercial box truck, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say Erin Ann Phaby allegedly took a box truck from a local furniture company before flipping it on its side near the intersection with Old Clear Creek Road. She reportedly fled the scene but was detained by two bystanders in the parking lot of a nearby casino.
Phaby faces multiple felony charges, including grand larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, battery by a prisoner, second-offense DUI, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, resisting and obstructing officers, false identification, and destruction of property.
Deputies arrived around 2:15 p.m. and found the flipped truck blocking all southbound lanes. Bystanders had already restrained Phaby when officers arrived.
She reportedly became combative, kicking officers, spitting on them, and making erratic and inappropriate comments, including claiming to be the comic book character “Harley Quinn.”
Carson City Fire Department responded to provide medical attention, but Phaby refused care. Deputies reported that she continued kicking the patrol car door, spitting on officers, and making inappropriate remarks while being transported.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is handling the crash investigation.
A furniture company confirmed the truck had been stolen that morning and was not authorized for Phaby to drive. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the truck moving erratically before it flipped.
Phaby was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before booking, where she continued to resist deputies, requiring restraints for a forced blood draw.
