Carson City Man Arrested After Dispute Turns Physical

A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery following a physical altercation with his father, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Deputies were dispatched at 6:38 a.m. to East Robinson Street after a report that someone had “put their hands” on the reporting party. They also said that the other person involved had left the scene.

When a deputy arrived, he observed a man standing outside the residence with his wife. The man told the deputy his father had battered him.

He said he had gone outside to fix a car cover when his father approached him and began yelling at him. According to the report, the man said the argument escalated, and his father pushed him.

Both then went inside the residence, where the man alleged his father grabbed him and threw him to the ground. The deputy reported seeing no injuries.

The deputy reviewed security video from inside the home. In the footage, the son appeared animated and was throwing items before the father pushed him to the ground.

While deputies were on scene, the father returned and gave his account. He said his son had been outside being loud while fixing a car cover, prompting him to ask him to quiet down.

He alleged his son pushed him during the argument. Inside the residence, the father said his son attempted to grab a jar of change, claiming it was his.

The father said he took the jar back, stating it belonged to him, and that his son then got in his face, leading him to push him to the ground. The son later claimed he had been grabbed around the neck by his father.

An additional video reviewed by the deputy showed the son visibly upset while handling the car cover. The father exited the residence and began yelling. The son then approached and appeared to purposefully bump into his father twice before both re-entered the home, where the confrontation continued.

After reviewing the footage, the deputy determined the son was the primary physical aggressor and placed him under arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery.
