Texas Man Killed in Crash in Mineral County

A Texas man was killed Friday night in a head-on crash involving a pickup and a commercial truck on U.S. Highway 95 south of Hawthorne, according to the Nevada State Police.

Troopers responded around 8:17 p.m. on Feb. 20 to the crash approximately 44 miles south of Hawthorne.

A preliminary investigation indicates a white Chevrolet 1500 pickup was traveling northbound when it crossed the centerline into the southbound lane and into the path of a red Freightliner commercial truck pulling a trailer. The front left of the pickup collided with the front left of the Freightliner.

After the impact, the Chevrolet came to rest on the northbound dirt shoulder facing northeast. The Freightliner crossed the northbound lane and came to rest on the northbound dirt shoulder facing southeast.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 52-year-old David Clardy of Burton, Texas, suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
