Nevada State Fire Marshal Joseph Rodriguez, who also serves on the Sparks City Council, was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Rodriguez was taken into custody in the early hours of Feb. 21 on a charge of DUI above the legal limit. Authorities have not yet released details about where the arrest occurred or what led to the traffic stop.
Following the arrest, authorities launched an internal investigation. Rodriguez remains suspended from his duties as state fire marshal pending the outcome of that review.
It remains unclear how long the investigation will take or whether the arrest will impact his position on the Sparks City Council.
