Sparks Woman Arrested After Child Falls From Moving Vehicle

A Sparks woman has been arrested on a felony child abuse and neglect charge after a 3-year-old child allegedly fell from a moving vehicle Friday evening in Spanish Springs.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. near Omni Drive and Sky Ranch Boulevard. Witnesses reported seeing the child fall from a moving vehicle that continued driving. Bystanders transported the child to a nearby Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District station, where the child received immediate medical attention.

The Nevada State Police later made contact with a woman. About an hour after the incident, 53-year-old Cynthia Roes called 9-1-1 to report what had happened, according to officials.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies took over the investigation and determined that Roes was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident. Following further investigation, she was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on a felony charge of child abuse and neglect.

The child went to the hospital for further evaluation and care and is now in the custody of the Washoe County Human Services Agency.

The investigation remains ongoing.
