Fire crews responded to a blaze at an abandoned apartment building off Grove Street in Reno on Monday evening, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
Witnesses reported the fire around 7:15 p.m., according to fire officials. When crews arrived, they found flames coming from the vacant building and quickly worked to bring the situation under control.
Officials said the structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Investigators believe the blaze may have been connected to homeless squatters, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
Firefighters were able to halt the flames before they extended beyond the abandoned building. Authorities confirmed that there were no injuries.
