A water heater is the possible cause of a house fire in the Star City area of Winnemucca on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Winnemucca Rural Fire District (WRFD), fire crews responded to the scene just before 3 p.m. on February 15 after receiving reports of a structure fire.
When crews arrived, they found flames in the area of a water heater. Authorities stated the fire had extended into the ceiling, requiring firefighters to cut into the roof to access and extinguish the flames.
Crews remained on scene for approximately 90 minutes, working to contain the fire and eliminate hotspots. There were no injuries.
