Teen Arrested in Truckee Parking Lot Shooting

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following a shots-fired incident Friday night in the parking lot of the Save Mart near the Crossroads Shopping Center, according to the Truckee Police Department.

Officers responded around 9 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the area of Highway 89. By the time police arrived, the people involved had fled the scene, where officers located numerous spent shell casings.

Investigators say the incident began as a fight involving a group of males who are familiar with each other. During the altercation, one of the males allegedly produced a handgun and began firing toward the others.

Police say shots continued even as individuals attempted to run away. No one was injured or killed.

Police booked the 15-year-old on charges of attempted murder, reckless discharge of a firearm, and violating probation.

They have not recovered the firearm used in the shooting.
