Three Arrested in Reno Shooting Investigation

The Reno Police Department has announced the arrests of three men in connection with a series of recent shootings, as well as several stolen vehicles and an attempted armed robbery.

On Feb. 10, through coordinated intelligence sharing and evidence analysis, including the use of the Ballistics IQ system, detectives say they were able to link three suspects to several shootings, stolen vehicles, and an attempted robbery.

Investigators found the suspects at a local apartment complex, taking them into custody with the assistance of the Reno Police Department’s SWAT team.

Phillip Acosta, 43, faces three counts of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, discharge of a firearm from a moving vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance. Investigators say officers recovered 41 grams of fentanyl and 59 grams of MDMA in connection with his arrest.

Kyle Duncan, 26, who faces three counts of ex-felon in possession of a firearm, discharge of a firearm from a moving vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of controlled substances, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into a moving vehicle, two counts of grand larceny of a motor vehicle, destruction of property, and a parole violation.

Sebastian Maynez, 21, is charged with two counts of ex-felon in possession of a firearm, discharge of a firearm from a moving vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and a fugitive from justice warrant for allegedly absconding from parole in California.
