Two Killed on U.S. 395 Near State Line

Two people were killed Sunday night in a wrong-way, head-on crash on U.S. Highway 395 near the California-Nevada state line, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs.

The incident was first reported shortly after 7:30 p.m., when callers told authorities a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near the Bordertown area, just north of the state line.

Minutes later, dispatch confirmed a two-vehicle head-on collision in the same area. Witnesses reported seeing flames following the crash.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene. Dispatch traffic indicated one person was found dead inside a vehicle, while CPR was in progress on a second victim at the scene.

Subsequent updates confirmed that two people died as a result of the crash. Pending notification of next of kin, their identities have not been released.

The vehicles involved were a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Subaru passenger vehicle. Both sustained significant front-end damage and fire damage.
