Elko Deputies Arrest Man on Vehicle Theft and Weapons Charges

A man has been arrested in Elko County on charges related to vehicle theft and illegal possession of a firearm, according to the Elko County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called on February 10 to a residence on Sun Mountain Lane in Spring Creek after a man failed to return a borrowed vehicle. The owner identified the man as Tacuma Brown while reporting the auto stolen.

During the investigation, deputies received information that Brown might have a gun.

Later that evening, officers with the Elko Police Department located the reported stolen vehicle on Idaho Street and followed it to Commercial Street. Brown was inside the vehicle along with two other individuals.

While speaking with deputies, Brown told investigators that the firearm had been in the vehicle, was removed, and taken to a residence on Bullion Road.

On February 11, deputies served a search warrant at the Bullion Road home, where they located the firearm.

Deputies took Brown into custody and booked him on grand larceny of a vehicle, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
