SAR Team Assists Lost Hikers on Mount Rose

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says its search and rescue team helped two hikers who became lost Friday night near Mount Rose Summit.

According to the sheriff’s office, the hikers called 9-1-1 after going off-trail and were unable to find their way back. Washoe County Search and Rescue teams responded to the area and located the pair.

Deputies said one of the hikers was showing signs of mild hypothermia when rescuers arrived. Both hikers were evaluated and treated at the scene by REMSA.

Authorities said neither hiker required hospitalization.
