The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office used a drone to assist in the arrest of a driver suspected of driving under the influence in Sun Valley on Thursday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, Drone as First Responder (DFR) pilots deployed an aerial vehicle after monitoring live 9-1-1 data through RapidSOS. The response followed a report of a truck failing to maintain its travel lane on Sun Valley Boulevard on Feb. 5.
Authorities said DFR pilots canvassed the area and located the vehicle traveling on Leon Drive. The truck eventually came to a stop in front of a residence.
Pilots then provided real-time location information to responding deputies, guiding them to the vehicle, allowing deputies to make contact with the driver. Deputies arrested the driver for driving under the influence.
