Driver Arrested After Pedestrian Hit-and-Run, Pursuit

Carson City Fire Department personnel and sheriff’s deputies responded Sunday morning to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the 4000 block of North Carson Street, where the driver fled the scene and was later taken into custody following a brief pursuit.

The incident began at approximately 8:53 a.m. as a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. Because the male victim suffered injuries to his leg and road rash, first responders took him to a local hospital for treatment.

Sheriff’s deputies said the crash followed an earlier dispute between the male victim and the female driver. The victim told deputies the driver was his girlfriend and that she was operating a Jeep at the time of the incident.

After leaving the scene, the suspect vehicle was spotted by Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies on Fairview Drive traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputies reported the driver then entered southbound Interstate 580 before continuing westbound on U.S. Highway 50 toward Spooner Summit.

Deputies were able to detain the driver on U.S. 50 West, east of Golf Club Drive, where deputies arrested her on suspicion of felony eluding.
