Deputies arrested a 33-year-old man on Tuesday after he entered a phone store carrying a concealed machete in his pants.
According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched at 12:20 p.m. to a store on Market Street after employees reported a man acting erratically with a large knife in his pants.
When the deputy arrived, the man matched the description provided. The report states the deputy asked the man what he was doing, and he began speaking rapidly and incoherently.
When asked if he had any weapons, the man admitted to carrying a machete and reached into his pants. The officer instructed him to turn around and place his hands on the back of his head, which he did, before detaining him.
During a search, deputies found a black-handled, silver-bladed machete tucked into his pants, with the handle hidden under his shirt. Employees at the store told deputies that the man handed them a scribbled note and began jumping around.
They noticed the handle of the machete, but said he never openly displayed the blade. The man reportedly told deputies he had come to the store to get a new phone.
