Search for Missing Woman Continues

SPlacer County, Cal. — Authorities are intensifying their search for a woman reported missing near the Codfish Falls Trail outside Colfax, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Search efforts have been underway since Friday evening and continue by land, air, and water. Sheriff’s officials said dive teams and boats are searching the nearby river, while aerial assets are surveying rugged terrain in the surrounding area.

The woman was last seen around 2:30 p.m. Friday walking on the trail with her dog. Bystanders found the dog, prompting concern and a call to authorities. Investigators located the woman’s vehicle parked near the river, along with her cell phone and a dog bowl.

Despite poor weather conditions, the search has continued with assistance from CAL FIRE NEU and the Placer County Fire Department’s Tactical Rescue Team. Officials said the terrain and limited access, combined with the lack of cell phone reception in the area, have added to the challenges.

While investigators say there is currently no evidence suggesting foul play, all possibilities remain under consideration.

Authorities acknowledged the concern and support shown by the community but urged the public to allow professional rescue teams to do the searching.
