CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Nevada Health Authority has been awarded nearly $180 million in federal funding for the first year of a new Rural Health Transformation Program, according to a release from the office of Governor Joe Lombardo.
The funding comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as part of a broader five-year, $50 billion national initiative authorized by Congress earlier this year through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The program will aid healthcare access and delivery in rural communities across the state.
All 50 states were invited to apply for the new federal funding, with Nevada selected to receive support in the program’s inaugural year. The funding is to help states improve rural health systems, expand services, and address longstanding disparities in access to care.
The grant operates on a year-by-year basis, requiring states to reapply annually for continued funding. Nevada’s five-year grant period officially begins on Dec. 29, 2025, and runs through Oct.30, 2030.
