SPARKS, Nev. (Dec. 22, 2025) — A deadly head-on collision shut down part of Interstate 80 in Sparks early Sunday morning. Nevada State Police said troopers responded just before 5 a.m. on Dec. 21 to a crash on westbound I-80 near Pyramid Way involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.
Investigators determined the car was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with the semi-truck. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver received minor injuries, police said.
Westbound I-80 remained closed for several hours during the investigation and reopened to all traffic shortly before 10 a.m.
