When I was a younger disc jockey, I used to pass my time in the early hours of an overnight shift, rewriting some of the songs the station would play. Bob Seger’s Old Time Rock and Roll would come up in rotation at one country station, and I always thought about editing the lyrics to make it into a Country Western song.

With my apologies to Bob Seger, I finally got around to it yesterday morning.

That Old Country Western Sound

(Verse 1)
These kids today, they don’t understand
The music we grew up with was a country band
They got their rap country, their auto beats
But nothing moves me like the old Country Western treats

(Chorus)
Old Country Western sound, that kind of music soothes the soul
I reminisce about days of old with the old Country Western pull

(Verse 2)
I remember back when I was a kiddo
I’d spend my nights listening to that country radio
I’d dance all night to the honky-tonk beat
And sing along to those old Country Western feats

(Chorus)
Old Country Western sound, that kind of music soothes the soul
I reminisce about days of old with the old Country Western pull

(Bridge)
Today’s music ain’t got the same soul
I like that old Country Western roll
Don’t try and take me to a rap county show
There is no way you will ever get me to go

(Chorus)
Old Country Western sound, that kind of music soothes the soul
I reminisce about days of old with the old country western pull

(Outro)
Old Country Western sound, that kind of music soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old with the old with that old country music
Old Country Western sound, that kind of music soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old with the old with that old country music
