My wife hurt my feelings for about a minute when she learned I had loaded dirty dishes and utensils into the dishwasher full of clean eat-ware. I knew she didn’t mean it, but exhaustion and frustration got her at that moment, and she verbally exploded on me.
Sitting in my office, writing, she came in to apologize.
“I’m sorry,” She started, adding, “I thought you knew.”
“What? About being stupid?” I smiled, “That I know, but I honestly didn’t know the dishes were clean.”
She ran the dishwasher a second time, and we laughed about it the rest of the day.
